Our Story

On 15 September, 2003 I bought my beloved dog HUGO home for the first time. A 10-week-old French Bulldog, he was and is the love of my life.

When Hugo was 10 years old and I found him collapsed one hot summers day in the garden of my South Brisbane home in Australia,  I immediately rushed him to my local Vet. The Vet told me she thought he was suffering from acute heart failure and euthanasia was the only option. The Vet advised if I did not euthanasia Hugo he would die of a seizure that day or the next and I would be unable to do anything but watch him suffer terribly for 20 minutes and then die.

I was devastated. I’d had Hugo since he was a baby and I couldn’t bare the thought of my life without him.  After 3 hours of battling with the decision to end his life, I decided I couldn’t accept he was leaving me and against all advice I said NO to euthanasia and took him home. I would make him well and nurse him back to health. After all, sometimes Vets get it wrong don’t they?

I got Hugo home and started by sitting him upright and with a needle-less syringe I squirted Superfoods mixed with water into his mouth.
